TED-Ed vs Edpuzzle: Which One Is Better?

Greetings, students! In the vast universe of infinite knowledge and stories and history, let's just dive right into today's new adventure!

Talking about infinite knowledge, sometimes, we get lost trying to find a way to deliver new information to students. It can be because we run out of ideas on how to deliver it. "So, what do you suggest?" I suggest you use a video-based learning! There so many websites to use, and today, we have two to discuss.

The first website is TED-Ed, which stands for technology, entertainment, and design. TED-Ed was initially launched in 2012, and its popularity has been rocketing ever since. You may be wondering about why and how it is so popular among different generations and professions with over 3 billion viewers annually. Like the name suggests, TED-Ed provides technology-based learning that is entertaining and educational. It is designed in such way to engage with different kinds of students as well as catch up with the advanced technology; however, it is also designed to be simple for teachers to operate. Teachers can easily make lessons with existing YouTube videos by adding questions, discussions, and more materials. Overall, it is an amazing example of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK).

Moving on from the first one, the other website is Edpuzzle. Similar to TED-Ed, Edpuzzle is another technological-based teaching tool. It was officially founded in 2013. Edpuzzle is also a popular teaching website with over 150 million users. The way it works is very similar to TED-Ed; teachers can edit videos by inputting questions. However, there are some differences between the two, and one of which is the questions. Teachers can put the questions in the desired time, and when a question pops up, the video stops for the students to directly answer. Taking everything into consideration, this is a really great website for teachers and students. On the other hand, I personally think the design isn't very engaging.

"Well, which one is better?" The answer depends on a lot of factors, including personal preference, but if I had to choose one, I would choose TED-Ed. Why? It is because I think TED-Ed's design and layout are better. In terms of content and how one can make use of the website, both TED-Ed and Edpuzzle are two equal options.

Lastly, teachers can apply this type of teaching by making a lesson with interesting questions and discussions. Teachers may choose any videos, but it is better to choose ones that are intriguing and relevant to the topic. Furthermore, this can be the students' homework, and that is what we discussed in the previous posts – autonomous learning.

So, from the discussion above, which website are you going to choose? Let me know in the comment section below!
